🤯 American mothers used to have WHAT?! 👀

Hey Reader,

“The culture wars have divided us — this is how we come back together.”

Summer is officially kicking off, and for so many moms, the financial and mental load is already peaking. If you're already stressed trying to balance work with the soaring costs of summer child care, please hear me: this is not a personal failure.

Last year alone, nearly 500,000 women left the U.S. workforce—largely driven out by skyrocketing care costs. The U.S. remains the only developed country without guaranteed paid family leave, treating child care like an individual financial hurdle rather than an economic imperative. (If affordable child care for anyone who needs it seems like an impossible dream . . . did you know that America mothers used to have Universal Child Care?)

This is not something we can fix individually. We need to rally as a community. (And if your kids are already grown, this is a beautiful opportunity to create a better world for future mothers!)

This month, the non-profit Moms First is premiering a historic new documentary, No Country for Mothers (Watch Documentary Trailer Here). It blows the lid off the systemic financial challenges mothers carry and charts a path toward real change.

Rather than standard streaming, the filmmakers are releasing it through group gatherings.

Why? Because this film is meant to spark community action.

Motherhood is a HUGE contribution to society. It shouldn't be a financial sacrifice.

If you're ready to stop just surviving a broken system and start changing it, this is our moment!

Hey Reader, “If I keep chasing more, I will never feel like I have enough." This month’s challenge comes from the book Never Enough: From Barista to Billionaire—the story of a man who built a net worth approaching $1 BILLION, bought the mansions, supercars, and waterfront vacation homes… and became increasingly miserable. What struck me most wasn’t the size of his wealth. It was how NO amount of money protected him from the trap of wanting MORE. In fact, the more he bought, the less time,...

Hey Reader, If things stay on track, my husband and I could be financially independent (FI) as soon as summer 2027(meaning: we could cover our living expenses with our investments alone, making work optional). That still feels wild to write — and I want to be clear about something: This didn’t happen quickly. We’ve been working really hard toward this goal since we took our first investing class back in 2008. It’s been almost 20 years of showing up, learning, resetting mistakes, and doing the...

Hey Reader, For years, we paid our kids allowance the old-school way — cash envelopes and all. 💵 It worked beautifully when they were little. They needed to see the money to understand it. But now my youngest is turning nine… and I realized we were ready for a change. The world runs on debit cards and direct deposits, not crumpled bills in a drawer. So we finally went digital. 🙌 We’ve been using this app for a while now, and it’s been a game-changer: 🚫 Has no monthly fees 💸 Sends allowance...
